Company History  About Us Pauline Adams, Managing Director of Velvet Energy UK Ltd won a Nuffield farming scholarship in 1998 to study the beef industry in Australia, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. It was whilst she was in New Zealand that she heard about the benefits of taking deer velvet, this was of particular interest as she had recently had a total hip replacement and was still suffering some pain and stiffness. A course of deer velvet and two months later saw Pauline bungee jumping off Victoria Falls Bridge and continuing race riding in point-to points. "I was fairly sceptical before taking velvet but I am sure velvet helped significantly with my recovery". She was also due to have her second hip replaced but has now found that she does not need the operation after all. Since her return to Britain she set the wheels in motion to be the first person to bring this amazing natural health product into Britain. Doug Harkin, Marketing Director, also won a Nuffield farming scholarship in 1999 to study marketing and quality assurance in the UK and US. He is an Australian and had been farming there until he commenced with Velvet Energy in Feb 2001. He now runs his own business ‘Greener Pastures’ which specialises in the management of horse paddocks and turf consultancy. Pauline has been race riding her own horses in point to points for 15 years and is now training with Doug. Pauline is in the process of getting a trainer’s permit. They are both passionate about racing which is why ‘Equine Fitness’ is a very exciting sideline for them both.
